Prince Andrew has found himself embroiled in yet another scandal over the past few days, which may not come as a surprise to some. Over the weekend, it was revealed that the Duke of York, 65, had in fact lied in his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview when he said he ceased contact with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in 2010.
This is because in a new email seen by various publications, the duke had actually messaged Epstein on February 28, 2011, telling him "we are in this together". This was the day after a photo of Andrew and Virginia Giuffre - who accused the duke of sexual assault - was shared. Andrew has always denied the claims made by Giuffre, who died earlier this year.
In the email, sent from the duke's official email address, Andrew also told Epstein: "I'm just as concerned for you! Don't worry about me! It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it."
This was followed by the duke's words "keep in close touch" and "we'll play some more soon!!!!"
While the scandal has surprised some and led to more dislike towards the prince from the general public, many may assume that it will be yet another scandal that soon disappears from newspaper front pages.
However, as a royal expert, I truly believe this one is different and is, in fact, something the duke cannot recoverfrom.
This is because the email not only shows just how close Andrew and Epstein were, but it also proves that the prince lied about when he stopped contact with the late paedophile.

And it is this lie which means Andrew cannot simply wait in his Royal Lodge mansion for this scandal to pass, because even if he ever explains the email, it is likely to fall on deaf ears.
This is because as popular author Frank Sonnenberg once said: "Trust is like blood pressure. It's silent, vital to good health, and if abused it can be deadly."
Andrew has now abused any trust the public had left in him when it comes to what is true about his past friendship with Epstein.
Now, with members of the public, and perhaps even the Royal Family, sceptical about what to believe, Andrew is in a more difficult position with his public image than ever before.
In fact, this could really be the scandal that the duke just cannot come back from...
