Tom Aspinall is set to face Ciryl Gane in his first defence of his undisputed UFC heavyweight title. The Manchester-born fighter is headlining UFC 321 tonight, marking his first main event in a numbered event for the MMA promotion.
He will be taking on the formidable Frenchman at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. This marks the Briton's first fight in 15 months, following his last bout against Curtis Blaydes where he defended his then-interim title with a knockout in the first round. Despite setting up a potential super-fight with then-champion Jon Jones, the MMA icon declined the opportunity and retired. Aspinall now has the chance to become the third British UFC champion to defend his belt, following in the footsteps of Michael Bisping and Leon Edwards. While his in-ring talents are well-known within the fighting community, less is known about his personal life and the wealth he has accumulated since his UFC debut in 2020.
Who is Tom Aspinall's wife?Aspinall tends to keep his family life private, with little known about his life outside the cage. He is married to Polish wife Justyna and they have three sons together, two of whom are twins.
Justyna keeps a low profile and manages her own private social media account. The MMA star has disclosed that he's managed to pick up some Polish courtesy of his wife's heritage, with clips of his language abilities surfacing on social media during exchanges with Polish MMA legend, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
What is Tom Aspinall's net worth? Based on MMASalaries data, Aspinall has banked a staggering £2.3million ($3.1m) throughout his nine-bout stint in the UFC. His most recent clash against Blaydes saw the British fighter reportedly pocket a career-best £1.1m ($1.5m).
This sum allegedly stems from his guaranteed purse of £375,000 ($500k), his share of pay-per-view revenue due to his co-main event billing which totalled another £375k, plus his Performance of the Night bonus that netted him £37k ($50k). UFC 321 represents the inaugural numbered card that Aspinall will top-bill during his mixed martial arts journey.
That brings with it an enhanced financial package. The fighter has secured seven post-bout bonuses across his nine UFC appearances, translating to £262k ($350k) earned through his devastating finishing prowess.
Aspinall has shown no signs of calling it quits just yet, but has signalled what he'd like to do once he does. The 32-year-old has spoken candidly regarding his eldest child's autism diagnosis and has championed increased understanding of the condition.
Speaking to the BBC in 2023, he opened up about his personal journey with autism, admitting: "I didn't want there to be something wrong with my son. But when you start to learn about autism, you learn there's not something wrong with them. It's just a different way that their brains work. We'd say his name and he would not look at you or make eye contact."
Aspinall, while acknowledging he still has a long journey in his fighting career, confessed that his life after the ring will be devoted to aiding families grappling with the condition. "When I'm retired from fighting that's my mission...to try and get as many people diagnosed and helping as many families as possible," he declared last year.
