Fortnite KPop Demon Hunters update 37.40 release date, downtime, Demon Rush LTM and more

Fortnite developer Epic Games is getting ready to release another new update, complete with one of the most hotly-anticipated crossovers in recent memory.

As part of the new update, Epic Games will add new content from hit Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters. This includes new skins, a new limited-time game mode and various other items.

The Fortnite KPop Demon Hunters update has been given an October 2 release date on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android.

The KPop Demon Hunters update will be ushered in with a period of server downtime, beginning at 9am BST UK time. Matchmaking will be disabled at around 8.30am BST.

"Calling all hunters!" reads an Epic Games post. "Downtime for v37.40 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand."

The KPop Demon Hunters skins and items are expected to be available to purchase once the game is back online.

Fans will be able to purchase Rumi, Mira and Zoey skins, alongside individual Ramyeon backbling, Rumi's Sa-In-Geom, Mira's Gok-Do and Zoey's Shin-Kal harvesting tools, as well as Zoey's Thumbs Up emote.

In addition to the new KPop Demon Hunters skins and items, Epic Games is also launching a limited time game mode to accompany the content.

To celebrate the launch of the new items, fans will be able to play a special edition of Horde Rush.

The Demon Rush limited-time game mode sees players team up to protect the Honmoon from the endless waves of faceless demons.

The new Demon Rush Mode will be live from October 2 until November 1. Likewise, creators will be able to use "film-inspired assets" to publish their own KPop Demon Hunters games.

Elsewhere, the new update will introduce the upcoming Fortnitemares content, including new skins and game files. Fortnitemares is expected to go live on October 9.

Fortnite OG Season 6 will also launch a day early on October 2, following the release of the new update. Because of the early finish, fans will receive one reward automatically.

"OG schedule change: The OG Chapter 1 Season 5 Battle Pass will now end at 3:30am ET on October 2," Epic explains. "Due to the last-minute change, players that have the OG pass will receive one OG pass reward automatically."
