A massive three-alarm fire engulfed several homes in Newark, New Jersey, on Tuesday evening. According to fire authorities, the fire started near Montgomery Avenue and Avon Avenue at 5:21 p.m. The authorities have ordered locals to flee the region due to the extensive devastation caused by the fire. Numerous emergency services and fire agencies are present at the scene and are exerting great effort to suppress the fire.
At least four houses were still blazing as of 5:45 p.m. Witnesses described a spectacular scene over the horizon, with thick black smoke visible up to 20 kilometers distant. The fire is still out of control, and efforts to contain it are being made more difficult by problems that firefighters are facing, like poor water pressure and a broken hydrant. Although gusting gusts of up to 20 mph and dry air have accelerated the fire's rapid progress, fire crews are using an outside attack approach to stop the flames from spreading.A car that was parked in a neighboring driveway caught fire, and other trees in the vicinity were also engulfed in flames. Since the fire poses a threat to spread to other houses, local officials have verified that evacuation orders have been issued for surrounding residences. While inquiry into the fire's cause and origin is ongoing, emergency personnel are making every attempt to contain the flames. There have been no reports of injuries thus far, despite the fact that the situation is still unstable. Officials are trying to stop more damage, so residents are being asked to avoid the impacted neighborhoods. Emergency personnel are currently evaluating if further evacuations are necessary as the fire spreads. In order to put out the fire, the Newark fire department is working with other neighborhood organizations, placing a strong emphasis on resource management that is both effective and safe in these difficult conditions.🚨#BREAKING: Multiple Homes on Fire
