A video of Britain's Prime Minister Keir Starmer misfiring his words during a speech at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool went viral. While talking about the Israel-Gaza war, Starmer made a slight slip of tongue where he called for the release of "sausages" instead of "hostages". Despite Starmer immediately clearing up the air by acknowledging his mistake, it went viral: Here's the video:
Starmer talked about the message he would be conveying at the upcoming UN General Assembly to be held in New York. In the meantime, he also spoke about the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, urging for an immediate ceasefire call. He stated that he wishes to see a ārecognised Palestinian stateā and a āsafe and secure Israelā. PM Starmerās statement comes after the Middle East tensions escalated with a series of airstrikes that Israel conducted on Lebanon. The airstrikes, considered to be the deadliest in Lebanese history, resulted in the deaths of nearly 500 people and left 1600 injured. In retaliation, Hezbollah fired six missiles in an hour targeting IDF bases and weapon factories based specially in Northern Israel. The Middle East tensions peaked after Israel allegedly targeted Lebanese cities with a series of pager and walkie-talkie blasts. Israel was also accused of killing Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. The war that started on October 7, 2023, has claimed more than 40,000 lives till now as per reports from the Palestinian Health Authorities.šØ#WATCH: As United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Keir Starmer calls for a āreturn of the sausagesā during his speech before correcting himself.
