Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has withdrawn affiliation of 21 schools and six schools were downgraded from Senior Secondary to Secondary level in Rajasthan and Delhi. The decision is taken by the board after conducting surprise inspections across the two states. Among the 21 schools that are now disaffiliated, 16 schools are from Delhi alone and five are from Rajasthan. CBSE conducted surprise inspections of 27 affiliated schools in Delhi and Rajasthan on September 3, 2024, to ensure compliance with the Board's Affiliation and Examination Bye-Laws. The board issued Show Cause Notices to schools that violated attendance rules under its Affiliation and Examination Bye-Laws, giving them 30 days to respond. The inspection teams presented detailed reports that highlighted anomalies, and the Board then reviewed the schools' comments and evidence, including video footage. As a result of this inspection done by CBSE 21 schools had their CBSE affiliation withdrawn due to the high number of non-attending students in classes IX to XII and 6 schools were downgraded from Senior Secondary to Secondary level.
