Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed launched a brutual sledge against current white-ball skipper Babar Azam during the Champions Cup 2024 match between Stallions and Dolphins at the Iqbal Stadium in Faislabad on Thursday (September 19).Safaraz, who is the mentor of the franchise, was named in the Dolphins playing XI for the first time in the tournament for this fixture. The 37-year-old was handed the gloves and took up wicket-keeping duties in his debut as a player in the competition.

However, Babar responded to the sledge with an incredible effort with the bat and scored his first century in the competition and 30th in List A cricket. The Pakistan star batter reached the milestone in just 99 balls. He finished his innings with a knock of 104 in 100 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. The Stallions put up a total of 271 on the board.While both Pakistan's Test captain Shan Masood and white-ball skipper Babar are part of the squad, young wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Harris is leading the side. As far as the Dolphins are concerned, Safaraz is the mentor of the team, but Saud Shakeel is the captain. It is worth poiting out that Babar had replaced Sarfaraz as Pakistan captain in ODI and T20I cricket in 2019. Sarfaraz had led Pakistan to Champions Trophy glory in 2017 whch is their last ICC Trophy.
