New Delhi: The Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity commenced over southeast peninsular India on Tuesday, October 15 As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of southern India are likely to receive rainfall over the next few days."In association with the well marked low pressure area over south Bay of Bengal, isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka during 15th to 17th; Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 15th & 16th October, 2024," the IMD said.
Weather Warnings: Rainfall Warning Over South Peninsular India:- "Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over Kerala & Mahe, Karnataka during the week; Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during the week," the IMD said.
- Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal till October 16, over Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Wednesday.
- "Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, South Interior Karnataka during 15th -17th; Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 15th & 16th; Coastal Karnataka on 16th October," the weather agency added.
- Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka till October 17.
- Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Coastal Karnataka till October 18 and over North Interior Karnataka on October 16 and 17.
- "Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over Konkan & Goa; Isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall over remaining regions of West India except Saurashtra & Kutch where Dry weather is likely to prevail from 17th-21st during the week," the MeT department said.
- Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa till October 17.
