The Mumbai cricket team has given a big relief to Prithvi Shaw before the IPL 2025 mega-auction and included him in the probable squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Prithvi recently lost his place in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team and is still out of the state team. The first half of the Ranji Trophy will end on November 16, following which the teams will lock horns in white-ball cricket.The white-ball season will kick off with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scheduled to start on November 23. Shaw will hope that he stages a return to the T20 team.The IPL 2025 mega-auction is scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25. Mumbai are scheduled to play one match before the mega-auction. If selected, Shaw will have an opportunity to show the IPL franchises that he is fit to play competitive cricket again.
Apart from Shaw, Mumbai's squad includes Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and other regulars. Rahane is leading Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. It will be interesting to see if Iyer takes over captaincy from him or not. He captained Kolkata Knight Riders to a title win in IPL 2024. Shaw wasn't a regular in DC's playing XI over the past couple of seasons.He managed 283 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2022 and followed up with 106 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2023. Shaw played 8 matches in IPL 2024 and scored 198 runs.He has entered the IPL 2025 mega-auction with a base price of Rs 75 lakh.
