VIRUDHUNAGAR: Three workers killed and two other workers sustained injuries in a blast reported in a fireworks unit situated in M Pudupatti near Sivakasi here on Saturday.
According to sources, a fireworks unit is situated in M Pudupatti near Sivakasi taluk in Virudhunagar district.
On Saturday morning while the workers were manufacturing crackers inside the working sheds in the unit, a blast was triggered in a working shed due to friction.
In this incident, three workers died on the spot while two others sustained injuries. The injured workers were admitted to the Sivakasi government hospital for treatment.
In this incident, five working sheds inside the unit were damaged. The fire and rescue services personnel are involved in the process of dousing the fire. The revenue and police officials rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry about this incident.
