NEW DELHI: Singer Arijit Singh has cancelled his upcoming concert in Chennai, scheduled for April 27, as a mark of respect for the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
On April 22, terrorists opened fire on tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, and injuring several others.
In a statement shared via his Instagram Stories, Arijit reposted a note from the organisers stating the decision to cancel the show had been taken collectively with the artist, in solidarity with the victims and their families.
"IMPORTANT UPDATE. In light of the recent and tragic events, the organisers, along with the artist, have collectively made the decision to cancel the upcoming show scheduled to happen in Chennai this Sunday, April 27th," the note read.
Organisers have assured that all ticket holders will receive full refunds, which will be automatically processed to the original mode of payment.
The attack has triggered widespread outrage, with Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra expressing grief and offering condolences.
Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has also deferred ticket sales for his upcoming Hukum Tour in Bengaluru, citing the prevailing national mood following the attack.
