Ajmer: Ajmer SP Vandita Rana Monday suspended the SHO of Civil Lines police station, Rajveer Singh, head constable Ramniwas Vishnoi, and two other constables, Sitaram and Chandra Prakesh, after receiving an inquiry report against them for allegedly demanding money and arresting a person without following the law. SP Rana confirmed the suspension orders of these police personnel.
Sources said that a person from Ajmer wanted to purchase land in Noida, while the land owner resides in Jaipur. The person from Ajmer paid some amount to the land owner but later decided not to purchase it and demanded the advance money back. The police called the land owner to Ajmer, and on May 5, as per the allegations, they took him to a hotel on the Ajmer-Jaipur road and threatened him to return the advance money, as well as demanded more money.
All four police personnel were present. They took the owner to the police station and later arrested him for disturbing peace. The allegation revealed that the police took Rs 10 lakh from the owner. The land owner's son complained to the Ajmer SP and to officials in New Delhi. SP Ajmer directed CO North Rudra Pratap Sharma to conduct an inquiry into this matter. Sharma preliminarily investigated the charges and submitted the report to Rana. After the inquiry report, the Ajmer SP suspended all four police personnel. Sources said that the arrest was made without following the norms and process.
