Jaisalmer: Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested Sunday in Barmer for allegedly orchestrating a honey trap scheme targeting a local textile businessman. A fourth accused remains at large, police officials said Monday. The arrested individuals were identified as Vimla Sen (32), a beauty parlour operator, her paramour Ratan Kumar (35) and Babu Devasi (28). The fourth accused, Arjun Singh from Kawatra in Jalore, is currently absconding.
Barmer Superintendent of Police, Narendra Singh Meena said the incident occurred on April 8 when the victim was lured to a residence in Mahavir Nagar in Barmer city. The accused allegedly assaulted the businessman, captured compromising videos and initially demanded a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, which was later negotiated down to Rs 15 lakh.
"When the businessman couldn't arrange the money, the perpetrators held him captive for 18 hours and eventually forced him to sign four blank cheques before releasing him in the Gudamalani area," said SHO Devi Chand Dhaka, who led the arrest operation. TNN
