Kanpur: The Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) for Hernia Conference will be held at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital starting April 11. The conference will last for three days, during which doctors from Nepal, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will learn laparoscopic surgery for hernia. A test will follow, and those who pass will receive a fellowship. Renowned experts, including Padma Shri Dr. Pradeep Chowbey, will teach the latest techniques in hernia surgery.
On the final day, 15 hernia patients will undergo free live surgeries. The conference's organising secretaries, Dr. Shivanshu Mishra, Dr. S.K. Mishra, and Dr. Manoj Sonkar, informed journalists at GSVM Medical College that this is the first time the conference is being held in the state. The Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons is organising the event under the banner of GSVM Medical College and Kanpur Surgical Club. They also mentioned that patient registration is underway and will continue until April 10, during which hernia patients for surgery will be identified. A total of 250 doctors have registered to attend the conference, including 150 from the city and 35 national-level faculty members.
