Jhansi: A video circulated widely on Saturday evening showing two lawyers and their associates engaged in a physical altercation inside a courtroom, wielding sticks and hurling chairs at one another. The incident was captured on video by a bystander and subsequently spread across social media platforms.
Circle officer City Sneha Tiwari said the incident occurred within the assistant city magistrate's courtroom on Saturday afternoon, though the ACM was absent during the confrontation. She indicated that one party registered a complaint at Nawabad police station, stating they were present for their client's bail proceedings under section 151 when another lawyer attempted to poach their client, leading to the confrontation. "We are examining the matter before determining whether to register a case," the CO stated.
District Bar Association president Chandrashekhar Shukla described the incident as grave, confirming that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter, with stringent action to be taken against the offending lawyer.
