Udupi: The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) to get admissions in various undergraduate courses will be held on April 16 and 17 in 23 centres across Udupi district. A total of 8,089 students are expected to appear for the exam, with 12 centres in Udupi, five in Karkala, and six in Kundapur.

DC Vidya Kumari K, chairing a preparatory meeting at the Rajatadri on Monday, directed officials to ensure exams are conducted smoothly, maintaining its sanctity and avoiding any lapses. She emphasised the importance of co-ordinated efforts and strict adherence to protocols.

CET question papers will be stored at the district treasury under police protection and CCTV surveillance. Teams comprising tahsildars, education officers, and principals will distribute the papers to centres under security, as per schedule.

Students are barred from carrying any electronic devices such as e-watches or mobile phones. Students cannot wear any jewellery inside the centres. They must arrive well in advance, and carry their hall ticket along with a valid ID (college ID, bus pass, driving licence, passport, Aadhaar, PAN card, or other approved documents).

The DC warned that staff assigned for examination duties should not remain absent. Each centre will have designated observers and room supervisors, and all exam halls must be equipped with CCTV cameras and wall clocks.

To ensure the exams are conducted in a secure and smooth manner, a radius of 200-metre area around each centre will be declared as a restricted zone. Police have been directed to provide adequate security, while health department will deploy medical assistants at each centre.

Given the summer heat, drinking water facilities will be arranged, and Mescom is asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the exams. ZP CEO Prateek Bayal, PU department deputy director Maruthi, college principals, and other officials were present at the meeting.
