Chatra: A government team's timely intervention saved a minor girl from getting married in Tatijhariablock of Hazaribag district on Wednesday. The girl is only 16 years old and was to get married at ancient Narsingh Sthan temple in Khapariawan of Katkamdag block . All the preparations for the marriage ceremony were going on at home when someone informed the Child Line. BDO Rashmi Khushboo Minj reached the girl's house with the Tatijharia police. The girl's parents were called to the Tatijharia police station and in the presence of women supervisor Shaswati Ghoshal, they were informed about the Child Marriage Prohibition Act and its ill-effects. Her parents were instructed not to marry her till she attains the age of 18 years. The girl's parents wrote a bond and took an oath to marry the girl according to the Child Marriage Act passed by the government. The girl was to be married to Nageshwar Kumar, 25, son of Kailash Prajapati of Bharajo.
