Ramgarh: Only two out of the 310 private schools operating in Ramgarh district have set up fees committees in accordance with the orders issued by deputy commissioner (DC) Chandan Kumar, sources said.
The district education department on April 7 wrote letters to 310 private schools to submit a detailed report on the establishment of fees committee and fees hiked by the schools in the past three years within a week. However, only two schools submitted their reports within the timeframe, they added.
District superintendent of education (DSE) Sanjit Kumar said. "Letters were sent to private schools in accordance with the provisions of the Jharkhand Education Tribunal (Amendment) Act, 2017. They were directed to include the status of the formation of fee committees in their respective schools, details about fee hikes in previous years, and books of other patterns adopted in the schools, along with a list of at least 10 bookshops where these books are available for sale. Private schools that have defied orders would soon receive show-cause notices."
Only Sant Anna Public School and Jai Maa Panchbahini Public School have submitted reports, he added.
Principal of the DAV Public School, Barkakana, Md Mustafa Majid, said, "We have formed fees committee in January. We will soon submitt the details to the authorities."
