Jacqueline Fernandez is still reeling from the loss of her mother, Kim, who passed away last month following a stroke. In a deeply emotional conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress reflected on her mother's unwavering support, calling her the "biggest cheerleader" in her life.
Jacqueline Fernandez remembers her mother's unconditional love
"I was lucky that I was able to spend the last few months with her," Jacqueline shared. "You always feel, 'I wish I did more. What could I have done more?' And it really, really takes a lot of time to come to terms with it. I don't think I've still come to terms with it."
The Kick star reminisced about how her mother had always been proud of her journey, even when the idea of becoming an actor seemed far-fetched. Coming from a simple background, Jacqueline recalled being nervous about confessing her dreams to her family.
"I was scared to tell them that acting was my true calling. It had been since I was seven or eight. But when I finally opened up at 18, they had no hesitation in supporting me," she said.

She highlighted how parents, too, become part of the public sphere once their children enter showbiz. “Whatever we go through as actors in the industry, our parents also go through it because they're also public. Everything's out there. What I admire is, it takes so much for parents to actually still support you through everything. And they were those type of parents. Especially my mom.”

Jacqueline fondly recalled how her mother always encouraged her to keep striving. “She always called me her butterfly because I was always flitting around and flying away. That made her happy because I was doing things that made me happy.”
Currently attending the Cannes Film Festival, Jacqueline was recently honoured as part of the prestigious Women In Cinema initiative, an achievement that would have surely made her mother proud.
