Khusaboo Kamal, best known for her roles in May I Come In Madam, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, Jijaji Chhat Per Hain, and Barrister Babu, has been away from television for a while. The actress, we’ve learnt, took a step back from her career to focus on her personal life, as she was in a serious relationship and hoped to settle down.
She shares, “There comes a time in life when you feel it’s the right moment to get married and start a family. For me, that time was the past two-and-a-half to three years. I was in a committed relationship and had made these plans my priority, so my career naturally took a backseat.”
While she was eager to tie the knot with her partner of nearly three years, things didn’t go as planned. Without naming him, she revealed that he was a businessman and someone she had initially met with the intention of marriage. She says, “We dated for almost three years. When we met, he was keen on settling down, but over time he realised that marriage wasn’t for him. Eventually, he said he didn’t want to get married.”
Khusaboo took the difficult decision to end the relationship, understanding there was no future in continuing. She shares, “There’s no point in staying with someone when there’s no future. I didn’t want to keep investing emotionally in something that wasn’t going anywhere. It was tough to walk away, especially after three years of being emotionally involved and in love, but that’s life. It has its share of ups and downs, and we must learn to move forward.”
During this time, she also passed up several professional opportunities. She says, “Aside from the lack of exciting offers, I was more focused on my personal relationship. I let go of several projects because I had chosen to prioritise my personal life. I also received a few OTT offers, but many required intimate scenes I wasn’t comfortable doing.”
Now, however, she’s ready for a fresh start. “I’ve turned a new page and am looking forward to getting back to work. There are two TV projects that are in the final stages of discussion, so hopefully, I’ll be back on screen soon. In the meantime, I’m doing theatre and working on a play called Gaslight, which we’re performing across Mumbai and other cities. The response has been fantastic, and I’m excited about what’s next,” she concludes.
