NEW DELHI: The Chennai Super Kings ’ struggles in IPL 2025 hit a new low on Friday as they slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat, posting their lowest ever total at Chepauk — 103/9 — in a crushing eight-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders .
The defeat came just a day after Mahendra Singh Dhoni returned as captain in place of the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad .

But amidst the gloom, CSK reached out to their ever-loyal fanbase with a heartfelt message on social media, reaffirming their gratitude. The franchise shared an emotional quote from batting coach and former Australian star Michael Hussey , alongside the caption: "Of the fans, by the fans, for the fans!"

"Our fans have been absolutely phenomenal ever since Day One," Hussey said. "We hope they continue to keep turning out and supporting us. We want to turn this around more for the fans. Because they have stuck with us for a lot of the good times, and we hope they stick with us now when things have not quite gone to plan just yet."
CSK’s dismal batting effort saw them collapse under pressure from KKR’s spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali, who combined for stunning figures of 12-1-55-6. Narine then unleashed a brutal 44 off 18 balls to chase down the target in just 10.1 overs.
While CSK sit just above bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad, their message signals that the franchise is far from giving up — especially when it comes to their bond with fans.
