The energy is real. The feel is real. The score chase is real. The NHL legend is real. And the legend must be copied. The legend was followed! The legend, Alex Ovechkin witnessed two area youth hockey teams perform his signature Ovi Dive !

Darren Rovell, Sports Business Analyst for The Action Network, shared on his X, “At intermission tonight in DC at the @Capitals game, a local mites hockey team ended their time on the ice by all doing the “Ovi Dive.” Sports!”

At the intermission of the Washington Capitals vs Carolina Hurricanes game, Capitals mascot Slapshot Ovi-dived with little Ovi fans on the ice hockey rink

Washington Capitals mascot Slapshot adopted the signature Alex Ovechkin’s dive onto the ice hockey rink and made the little mites take his lead! “GR8 belly celly, @CapsYouthHockey!” wrote the official X account of Slapshot! An X user commented, “This is so cute!!”

The blue dasher board of the Capital One Arena wrote, “MITES ON ICE”. The cute little mites on the ice are little Ovi fans who are all looking up to the NHL legend and want to become like him! This is the highest form of appreciation from the little mites for the Russian professional ice hockey left winger and captain for the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin.

Even the official X handle of Capitals Youth Hockey Development reposted Slapshot’s X post and captioned it, “Learned from the best! 🐐”
