GUWAHATI: An undertrial prisoner, who escaped along with four others from Morigaon district jail in Assam on Friday night, was found dead in a water body on Monday, police said. SP Hemanta Kumar Das said villagers informed police about a body in the water body, which police retrieved and identified as Abdul Rashid . Das said they sent the body for postmortem.
Rashid and the other four, all charged under the Pocso Act , escaped from jail by breaking open the iron grille of their cell, police said. The other four escapees are still on the run and a search is underway to arrest them, police said.
