NEW DELHI: Just as Prime Minister Modi pitched for 'Ek hai toh safe hai' (We are safe, only if united) in poll bound Maharashtra, Assam CM and Jharkhand co poll-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma echoed the same message in Jharkhand on Thursday, which is also scheduled for elections.
Accusing the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of dividing the Hindus for votes, Sarma said 'Ek rahoge to safe rahoge' (You will be safe if you remain united). The BJP leader also singled out Rahul Gandhi and urged AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to "coach" the Congress MP.
"I urge Sonia Gandhi to coach Rahul, as without training, he is like an unguided missile," Sarma said addressing a rally in Ranchi.
Picking on the "infiltration" theme to attack the JMM-Congress alliance, BJP's Jharkhand poll-incharge alleged that " No one takes Rahul Gandhi seriously as he never visited areas in Jharkhand affected by infiltration".
"Our election agenda focuses on JMM-led coalition's exploitation of 'Maati, Beti, Roti' in Jharkhand," Sarma added.
The BJP chief minster also said that if the BJP was not voted into power, infiltrators would invade homes, putting "wives, daughters-in-law, and daughters under grave threat."
Sarma declared, "We will remove ministers like Alamgir Alam and Irfan Ansari, who have exploited Jharkhand, just as we pushed out Babar from Ayodhya."
Alam is currently imprisoned in connection with a multi-crore money laundering case, while Ansari is under fire for allegedly making offensive comments about the BJP candidate and Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi remarked that BJP leaders only aim to hand over the country's land and wealth to a small group of billionaires.
"I want that if this country is run, then 90 per cent people should run this country and BJP wants that the country should be run by two to three people - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Ambani and Adani - and the entire country's wealth, whether it is your land, forest - everything would be snatched from you and given away to these 10-15 big billionaires," he said.
The Jharkhand assembly elections are set to take place on November 13 and 20, with the vote count scheduled for November 23.
