Red Fort car blast: Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra on high alert; directives issued for religious sites, sensitive districts & border areas

NEW DELHI: A blast in a car near Red Fort Metro Station has put has been put on alert. Apart from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra authorities have also given directives to increase security.

Speaking to ANI, Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said, "DGP has issued instructions to all senior officials in Uttar Pradesh to increase security at sensitive religious sites, sensitive districts, and border areas. All security agencies have also been alerted. Police in all districts of Uttar Pradesh have been put on alert. An order was issued from Lucknow to increase patrols and checks in sensitive areas."

Additionally, Police could be seen patrolling potentially crowded areas, such as the market area of Noida sector-18.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and teams from Delhi Police, including the Special Cell, are investigating. NIA and NSG are also on site. The area has been sealed, and Delhi has been placed on high alert. Eyewitnesses reported a powerful explosion and scenes of chaos.

Following the recovery of around 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate in Haryana’s Faridabad, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis convened a meeting with senior police officials at his residence, Varsha, on Monday to review the state’s security preparedness.

According to sources, Fadnavis reiterated his directive for heightened vigilance in the wake of the Delhi blast, instructing all law enforcement and intelligence agencies to stay on high alert.
