The joint police and army operations began late Wednesday night in the Gursai top area of Poonch, following intelligence about terrorist movements in the region.

Simultaneously, security forces launched a separate cordon-and-search operation in the Shadra Sharief area of Rajouri district after receiving reports of suspected terrorist movement early Thursday morning.
