A video showing a man on an IndiGo flight attempting to steal a life jacket is going viral on social media. The clip posted on X shows a co-passenger confronting a man and repeatedly urging him to open his backpack. After some persistence, the man complies, revealing a life jacket inside, with which he had allegedly tried to flee with.
“(Yeh kya kar rahe ho aap? Life jacket chura rahe hai ye. Kaha le jaa rahe ho? Kyun Chura rahe ho?” ) What are you doing? He is stealing the life jacket. Where are you taking it? Why are you stealing it? urged the co-passenger who was recording the video. (“ Yeh karna sahi nahi hai”) This is not the right thing to do, he added.
This comes amid a flurry of air mishaps happening across the country with instances of flights getting disrupted and wave of panic gripping flyers after the deadly Air India crash in Ahmedabad.
This incident triggered a flood of reactions across social media, with the video accumulating over 360,000 views. People expressed their disbelief and commended the co-passenger who was vigilant enough to notice the theft.
A user commented under the post, “What kind of country we are becoming??? This is a ridiculous conduct.
If this tolerated then air travel will become more risky (Incase of emergency with Air India planes you will know there is no life jacket and Air India crew will say Apologies for the permanent inconvenience)
On a serious note, these people should be banned, their passports should be impounded
Any suggestions on other punishment options???”
Another user added, “Fail to understand what he plans to do with the life jacket, swim through denial or float past logic?”
“Why blur the face, show everyone how a thief looks like”, wrote another user.
