'He's the real scum': California governor Gavin Newsom hits back at Donald Trump - shares video of chaotic fed raids

California governor Gavin Newsom on Friday slammed US President Donald Trump calling him "the real scum" after federal agents fired tear gas during an official raid on a Southern California farm.

Sharing a video of the chaos, he said, "Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me 'Newscum' — but he’s the real scum."

The raid targeted a facility operated by Glass House Farms, which holds valid cannabis cultivation permits under California law. The department of homeland security confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was involved in executing the warrant, though the specific reason for the federal action remains undisclosed.

Federal agents clashed violently with protesters and authorities deployed smoke canisters to break up the crowd as Border Patrol and CBP vehicles blocked access roads. The scene was marked by military-style vehicles and a helicopter presence, intensifying the standoff.

The raid is part of a wider immigration enforcement surge in Southern California, where federal agents have increasingly targeted locations such as farms and parking lots, stoking anxiety among immigrant communities.

Recent operations, often backed by National Guard units, have featured heavily armed convoys. In Thursday’s raid, emergency responders transported three individuals to the hospital, though the nature and extent of their injuries have not been disclosed.
