Turning Point USA , the group founded by Charlie Kirk, will hold a public memorial service on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, after the Americanconservative activist’s fatal shooting in Utah on Wednesday.
"Join us in celebrating the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Charlie Kirk, an American legend," the organization said in a statement.
The stadium, home to the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, will be available for the service as the team has an away game against the San Francisco 49ers that day.
The stadium holds a capacity of 63,400 people and can be expanded to 73,000. Services of this size are unusual in the US and usually take place only for public figures with broad national recognition.
Gates will open at 8am local time, and the program is scheduled to begin at 11am.
Kirk started the conservative advocacy group in 2012 when he was 18 years old. The organization focuses on younger Americans.
Trump to attend
US President Donald Trump said he will attend Kirk’s memorial. Speaking to reporters, Trump said: "Whenever it is, I'll be going. They’ve asked me to go, and I think I have an obligation to do it."
Kirk was shot once while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem on Wednesday. He was taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead. He was 31.
