With much of Donald Trump's Liberation Day tariffs remaining secret till the last hour, tempers are rising ahead of the announcement today. Republican leader Amdrew Clyde dropped a major hint though it was his personal idea about Trump tariffs as he said he believes that Trump tariffs are not going to be long term and only a way to gain some leverage for the president.
"I think we should be giving President Trump the benefit of the doubt. Because this is his second term. He used tariffs very effectively in the first term. I don't think the tariffs he has in his mind are going to be long-term. I think he's using them as leverage. He's a very effective negotiation," the Rep leader said adding that he has trust in Trump that he has the situation completely under control.
According to reports, Trump finalized the tariffs Wednesday hours before unveiling them in front of the world as discussions went on with no final decision made on Tuesday.

Liberation Day, Recession Day
Donald Trump has touted April 2 as Liberation Day as Americans will be getting liberation from other countries ripping it off. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters that President Donald Trump’s plan to impose sweeping tariffs on America’s trading partners would trigger a recession. “Trump tariffs are going to make things more costly in the United States,” he said today at a news conference. “Republicans are crashing the American economy in real time and driving us to a recession,” Jeffries said. “This is not Liberation Day, it’s Recession Day.
