Monsoon Forecast 2025: IMD Predicts Rain and Thunderstorms in UP, Bihar, and Multiple Other States

The sudden shift in weather has brought much-needed relief from the summer heat, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and parts of South and Northeast India. Widespread cloud cover, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall have created more pleasant weather conditions for millions.

Weather Turns Dramatic in Uttar Pradesh

According to the IMD, weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh are undergoing rapid changes. Several districts including Ghazipur, Prayagraj, and Kushinagar have been placed under an alert for rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

• Wind speeds in these regions may reach 40-50 km/h

• Western UP districts such as Meerut, Moradabad, Rampur, and Sambhal are also expected to witness stormy winds and scattered showers

The cooler conditions come as a welcome break for residents after weeks of rising temperatures.

Rain Alerts Issued for Bihar Districts

Several areas in Bihar are also bracing for intense weather activity. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and rain in Kishanganj, Katihar, and Purnia districts.

• Strong winds between 30-40 km/h are forecasted

• Isolated regions may experience thunder and lightning, impacting normal outdoor activities

This sudden shift in weather could disrupt transportation and local routines, urging citizens to stay alert and indoors when possible.

Heavy Rain Expected in South and Northeast India

The southern and northeastern regions of India are under a broader weather advisory due to incoming monsoon systems. Rain and thunderstorm alerts have been issued for:

• Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh

• Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, and Puducherry

These areas are expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and localized wind gusts. The IMD urges caution, particularly in hilly and coastal regions prone to flash flooding and landslides.

Relief from Heat, But Risks Remain

While this spell of rain provides much-needed relief from the heat, the accompanying thunderstorms and gusty winds can cause disruption, especially in urban and low-lying areas. Authorities advise the public to stay indoors during peak weather activity and secure loose outdoor objects.
