Google Rolls Out Real-Time Scam Detection to Pixel Watch 2 and 3 Users in the U.S.

April 8, 2025 . Mountain View, CA — Google is extending its advanced Scam Detection feature to wearable devices, with Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 now receiving real-time scam call alerts. This update comes just weeks after the Pixel 9 series debuted the same technology, which uses on-device AI to flag suspicious calls in real time.

Scam Alerts Now on Your Wrist

Pixel Watch users in the U.S. can now get notified about potential scam calls mid-conversation, thanks to integration with their paired Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, or 9 Pro Fold. If a suspicious call is detected while you’re on the go, your Pixel Watch will vibrate and display a “Likely scam” warning—eliminating the need to pull out your phone.

This capability relies on Gemini Nano’s multimodal AI running on the phone, which listens for common scam tactics and patterns. If triggered, the system alerts the watch via Bluetooth. Notably, LTE-only calls on the watch are not covered, as detection must process on the Pixel device itself.

How It Works

Once enabled in the Phone app settings on your Pixel 9 (Settings > Scam Detection), the feature runs automatically in the background. Here’s what users can expect:

• An audible beep at the start of calls and periodically during flagged conversations

• Visual, audio, and vibration alerts when a scam is suspected

• Ability to dismiss the alert or end the call directly from the watch interface

Currently, the rollout is limited to calls in English and available only in the United States.
